PFV on a napkin

The whole method. Rough math on purpose — good enough to point at the problem.

1 Pick one thing you do over and over:
2 How many are open right now?
3 How many finish in a week?
Any period works — use the one you can actually count.
— weeks each (open ÷ finished = how long each one really takes)
4 Now take a single one of those and add up the honest hands-on hours somebody actually spends on it, start to finish:
—% is real work  ·  —% is waiting
5 In that same one, the longest single wait — the one place it sits still the longest, in days:
6 Fix the biggest wait first. Then count again.

Napkin math: lead time = open ÷ finished-per-period (Little’s Law) · a week ≈ 40 working hours · nothing you type leaves this page.
